Well, even if it was an old 2018 video somewhere in one of the predominantly Oromigna speaking provinces, Amharic is the federal or national language. It is compulsory for the bank to do business with customers who speaks Amharic. This illegal and unfair business practices is punishable by law. ለመሆኑ የባንክ ቤት ሰራተኛዋ የምትቀበላቸው የብር ኖቶች ሁሉ እንድህ ይህን ማንበብ ትችል ይሆን ወይስ የረዳት ይሆን "ላምጭው እንዲከፈል ህግ ያስገድዳል፡፡" የሚለው? That bank should be sued if it is not currently out of business.

The place is in Addis Ababa and the bank is Oromia Bank. As Amharic is the local language in Addis, the bank's working language in Addis is of course Amharic. This has nothing to do with Amharic being federal working language. Federal working language means only the language is used by federal government institutions. This does not apply to private business and local institutions. They can serve in any one or more local or federal languages to reach as many customers as possible.

The fact that almost all businesses use Amharic as their primary language has nothing to do with Amharic being the federal working language. That is where many people including Oromo activists get it wrong. It is just because Amharic is the most widely spoken language specially in cities and towns where business make most of their money.

Oromia bank in Addis also serves customer primarily in Amharic just like any other private business in Addis. Of course the name of the bank has "Oromia" in it and as such it is not surprising that some Oromos expect to be served in Afaan Oromo in a Bank that calls itself Oromia. But the way these customers were acting was rude and many tried to politicise this to their own agenda. They got a translator and that should end the story but they acted surprised to find non Oromo speakers working in Oromia bank. That is stupidity!

I thought it was the customer that only speaks Afan Oromo. The teller is Amharic speaking person. Or do I get it all wrong?

There are many short memory people who need reminding often, so please recycle any old video if it helps wutaf nekais to remember the devilish time in Ethiopian history. On the same taken, Wedi should avoid using the deragatory word to name Oromos. I don't think it is fair to generalize all Oromos as followers and supporters of Satan Mamo Killo. In fact all the the PP cadres and members are products of Woyane, including hodam Amharas who are killing and raping their own people for leftover of OLF PP.
