Good question but that’s like asking Demeke Zewdu to donate his Kidney to the dead Abay Tsehay.
First Welqait, Tselemti, Setit Humera and Raya never belonged to Tigray. Period! So, they are off limit to that region. Second, based on our moron friend Ethoash’s motto, woyane could lose even more. ABBA has put it beautifully:

My opinion is that referendum topic is not Tigray peoples demand, but tplfs bargain chip or empty threat… I would think once tplf as organization dies, it’s ridiculous demands and dreams will die with it. The tigreas as a people will start a new day as Ethiopians in peace with their neighbors
Accepting their 5% minority status in a country of 120 mil
Ethiopia as a country will try to show tigreas welcomeness & are part of the new Ethiopia and help rebuild Tigray but few tigreas individuals who try to carry on with the dead tplfs agenda will be dealt with

Fair enough but if they want a referendum, so be it. That would put the last nail on the coffin when the Tigray elites swallow the bitter truth, formally announcing that their region can’t survive a day without Ethiopia.
