Asmara, 13 September 2022- Eritrean Ambassador to the Republic of Sudan, Mr.
Isa Ahmed Isa met and held talks on 12 September with Gen.
Abdul Fatah Al-Burhan, Chairman of Sudanese Sovereign Council, focusing on strengthening bilateral ties and mutual cooperation.
At the meeting, the two sides reviewed the progress of the programs that have been initiated to develop the relations between Eritrea and Sudan.
Ambassador Isa Ahmed Isa also reaffirmed that Eritrea will continue the initiative to bring stability in Eastern Sudan, as well as in strengthening the friendship between peoples of the two countries.
Gen. Abdul Fatah Al Burhan on his part, commended the people and Government of Eritrea for standing along the independent choice of the people of Sudan in general and the all rounded support of President
Isaias Afwerki is extending to the Sudanese people.
Expressing appreciation for the effort Eritrea is exerting to create peace and stability in the region, Gen. Al-Burhan expressed readiness to work for the development of the historical relations between Eritrea and Sudan to the highest level.

The National Council of Eritrean Americans issues a statement regarding the notorious Michael Rubin, @mrubin1971, who is busy "scapegoating Eritrea to appease a surrogate party", the ethnofascist TPLF. An astute observer once described Rubin as "the pudgy-faced boy wonder of the AEI (American Enterprise Institute)."

Eritrea & India relations.
The archaeological findings of coins from ancient India in Eritrea & ancient texts, proved the presence of Indian merchants at Adulis coast. Gupta Art, (well-known in Indian religion) dated to 4th- 6th century AD, was also discovered in Adulis.
The Periplus of the Erythrean Sea details a large number of items exported from India through Adulis; such as long pepper, black pepper & transparent gems. The Christian Topography of Cosmas records, that emeralds that came from Beja were taken to India by merchants.
The onyx bezel of a ring engraved with an eagle on a globe, an opal bezel bearing an image identified as Jupiter Ammon & a carnelian inscribed with 4 letters in a possible ancient Indian script were recorded at Adulis. An amphora, was also discovered in Adulis.
Recent excavation at Assarca (aka the Black Assarca wreck), just beyond the mouth of Zula Bay in Red Sea close to Adulis in Eritrea has produced evidence from a shipwreck, of maritime trade involving Byzantium, Aksum, Arabia, and India in the 6 th - 7th century CE.
On 2 Feb 1941 Indian 5th Division captured Italian fortifications defended by 8,000 troops and 32 field guns at Barentu, Eritrea, Italian East Africa. During WWII many Indian soldiers were killed as part of the Commonwealth Army & were cremated a Keren War Cemetery.
On April 1, 1941 the Indian 5th Division as part of the Allied Powers "liberated" Asmara from the Italians.
In 1949 & 1950, India abstained in the UNGA voting for the partition of Eritrea & but voted YES for the federation of Eritrea with Ethiopia.
On Sept 17, 1993 Eritrea & India est diplomatic relations. Eritrea's Amb Alem Tsehaye presented his credentials to Pres Abdul Kalam on July 19 2007. India's 1st resident Amb Shri Subhash presented his credentials to Pres Isaias on 4 Dec 2019.
Eritrea & India began their formal high ranking level talks with the visit of Chief Justice P.N. Bhagwati in 1995 & a high level visit from Eritrea by Minister Arafaine Berhe, Minister in 2000.
Indian Navy ships of The First Training Squadron visited the Port of Massawa from 23 to 25 April 2022. Eritrea & India have cooperation in the fields of education, agriculture & trade. Trade volume between Eritrea & India is USD 245 million a year.
