how in God name Ethiopia can buy car from japan with birr ?
This is how it work let say we want to buy car from japan worth one billion dollars
we set up two bank an Ethiopian bank in Ethiopia and Japanese bank in japan,,,,, both start out from zero birr and yen
then one Ethiopian coffee exporter want to export coffee to japan business man
The Japanese deposit yen in Ethiopian account in Japan bank... now Ethiopian have one billion yen
Then an Ethiopian car importer want to import car and paid one Billion birr in Ethiopia to Japanese account
as soon as the the trade exchange done both the Japanese car exporter will be paid in yen and Ethiopian coffee exporter will be paid in birr everyone is happy the process start again
the only limitation is how much each part buy for each other example for example let take India if we import from India one billion birr equivalent in dollar and export only 100 million dollar then . the exchange bank only be set our birr barter account to only 100 million dollar because an India doesn't need birr more then 100 million birr equivalent in dollar
