The separation of the state and religion is one of the cardinal rules of world democracies. Derg was hostile to religion. Meles started to directly involved, and use its infiltrators to corrupt the church and the Muslim communities. Abiy initially did a good job to reunite the church and facilitating dialog between different sectors of the Muslim communities. soon after though his involvement both in the Muslim communities and in the Orthodox church became counterproductive. His government's anti-Orthodox stance and his harassment of Orthodox Christian followers is very known to everybody. He stopped the construction of a church that was permitted for the Orthodox church, his government continue to harass the church's followers for wearing the Ethiopian flag. In many parts of Oromia, Orthodox believers are not even allowed to celebrate their holy days in public. His latest involvement in the Muslim community as a peacemaker, I don't think is healthy. If you both love me do it as I said if you don't do what I said I will expose you to what you are doing behind closed doors, swearing by Allah to be Muslim more than the believers themselves is a theater this person has no shame to perform. We have Christians Orthodox, catholic, protestant, Gohava, etc not because all don't believe Christ is the son of God, but because they have different interpretations and practices. Provide the leaders a stage for them to resolve their internal issues, and make sure as a government provides security, but what Abiy doing is, counter-productive and self-serving Get out of religion.

- He has been deeply meddling in religious affairs
- He has breached the sovereignty of Federal States ( even he has used a third part country to invade Tigray )
- He has been using divide and rule strategy and illegal election postponement to consolidate and extend his power
- Using corruption to win political support
