20 Most Beautiful Cities in Africa in 2022 ----> Bahir Dar cited as the 5th Beautiful City
"Savvy travelers know that Bahir Dar in the Amhara region of northern Ethiopia is one of the most pleasant cities in Africa. Crowning the shores of Lake Tana and the Blue Nile River, this palm-lined city harbors spectacular water views and is a short drive from the Blue Nile Falls, which spill from majestic jagged cliffs."

And then, the only city not only in Africa but in the entire world which is inscribed in the UNESCO’s 100 years histories on July 2017. A city in its entirety is the majestic, comfortable, sweet, clean, peaceful with jaw dropping infrastructures is the Eritrean capital city Beautiful ASMARA.
The proof is in the pudding.
Just like there are ugly and beautiful people in the countries of the world, cherry picking so called few beautiful people should not be the litmus test…. Like l…..for example if one measures the beauty of the people in any country one needs to take the average beauty of the total population and thus the Eritrean people will also win the beauty contest again in this category like Asmara not only in Africa but in the entire world.
Moms love their babies no matter what.
But again the facts are judged by the ones who do the comparison….like the UNESCO which is a world face did in Asmara’s case not a baboon African sitting naked in his house who never seen Asmara doing the comparison or lists.
FACTS MATTER.

Bahir Dar should be developed way more id love to see Bahir Dar with Skyscrapers I hope Amharas begin investing in Bahir Dar instead of Addis. And also Amharas in Addis can invest and finance into Bahir Dar. Amharas as a whole should have promoted Bahir Dar over Addis.

The ranking is subjective ,but most of these places are not ranked on the basis of livability.
livability in terms of availability of services, security and affordable homes and cost of living. I am very, very surprised Asmara is not in the list.
south african cities are world known for violence.

Abere,
If you want to protect Ethiopia then develop Amahara. Rulers have a reason why they neglected the Amahara region. Through out his rule Haile Selassie didn’t want the Debre Berhan and Merhabet region developed because of fear. He detested Gojjam because they fought the Italians while he was in Swiss and they challenged his power. He deliberately starve Wello to humiliate the resourceful and intelligent people of Wello so that they do not challenge his power. I can go on. Mengistu did the same so is Melese and Abiye.
The Key is the Amaharas to turn their attention to North. Addis is what it is today because of the Amharas. Bahirdar is beautiful but it has to take care of its sewage system to be the most attractive to investors. It has to work in its infrastructure and link to Desie - Kombolcha - Gonder- Mekele - Asmara and Port Sudan. A rail and Highway link is vital. Soon after things will change fast. They have population, human and natural resources to do it. Amaharas has to lead and the rest of Ethiopia will follow.

That is so true. All leaders, although they came from northern Ethiopia, they neglected the northern part of Ethiopia and denied the region of their place of birth equitable regional growth. Unbalanced urban and regional development attracted people of Northern Ethiopia in search of better infrastructure and services. The entrepreneurial skill, resource and capital of this region was invested or skewedly concentrated in parts of the country not all over the country or in their own region. In most cases former leaders did not have the concept of balanced growth while in some instances some were doing it intentionally. For instance, Haile Selassie had a big issue with Gojam and Wollo, thus he deliberately stifled development projects in these provinces. What surprises me, though, why North Shewa was left at as the same situation it was during the Zere-Yeaqob era. Anyone who saw Alem-Ketama, just few kilometers of Addis Ababa should be wondering why on earth they should even pay tax, same in Dera, Gundo-Mesqel, the local people until recently knew a Germany NGO as their king not EPRDF may be now my not even know PP. I think all former leaders followed very biased regional development scheme. Unfortunately, people of North Ethiopia are blamed for any wrong doings of these leaders although they were more disadvantaged than the rest of the country.
It is always wise to adopt equitable resource distribution and balanced regional growth. Amhara region has many great potential, great weather, water resource, very fertile and arable land, entrepreneurial skill, ethic, and love of work, etc.
One of the great opportunities is today's city unlike the past can utilize the best architectural, master plan, environmentally friendly facilities, etc.

Ash,
What about the Mekele express rail way to Bahirdar - Desie- Gonder and Addis?
Kick out the TPLF, drop your gun and think progressively.
How do we convince Tigrains and Eritreans that life is beautiful without violence. Prosperity is possible without wanting other people’s money.
70+ million people live In the Northern corridor of Ethiopia.
Soon it will be 100.
