I meet young Ethiopians from Tigrai showering their ladies with thousands of dollars last Saturday night in one foreign country night club. We all met by accident but the amount of foreign currency was shockingly large,other than that they treated me as their own brother more importantly they paid what ever I consumed there with no questions asked. For that I am very grateful!! But inside my head I was anxious to know where this huge money might’ve come.
Driven my curiosity,
I asked one of them what do they do for living?
He didn’t answer directly but He told me that they are not working yet b/c they are student exchange and they are on pay by the Ethiopian ministry of education.
I knew he is lying but , I decided to act on believing him.
Little by little we were getting to know Each-other
being in a foreign country where money can be only obtain through money gram and western union. This is a third country we are talking here, no Visa card or credit card are on work here, so I kindly asked them that if there is money gram or western union in the city where we were.
They answered “yes but only citizen of the country can take money and transfer money, so you need to find someone a citizen of the country with passport, the your families will send to him but they should send the receipt to you then you pay him 6% everything will be ok.
I asked if they do the same ?
They said their families are in New York and they have connections with some NGOs so through them the western union allows them to retreat what ever amount money come to them.
To understand better I call directly to the western union central service which is in the United State.
After I gave them my location, I asked them if I can receive money using my passport ?
The western union said no, the reason they gave me was some countries have their own separate method to make hard for some drug dealers.
I told them some people with help of some NGOs able to receive money with no passport, and I kindly requested the lady I she can connect me with those NGOs, and I gave their names and their operating base office.
The lady answered with laugh and those are high Authority and Agents of the UN, I have now way able do what you asking, I am sorry.
