Why do Tigreans mostly converse in Tigrigna while Oromos tend to do so in Amharic among themselves?

You might have noticed that mostly Tigreans, here comes to mind my university memory, converse in their language, even in the presence of other groups in the companion.
If you come to the Oromos, specially the Oromos of the center, they don't care which language they use to converse, even when there are only Oromos in the companion. I myself practiced conversing in Amharic (probably to also improve my Amharic), even when there were only Oromo companions and we didn't care that much about which language we used at least in the pre TPLF (EPRDF) era. In the presence of another companion, who don't understand Amharic, it is almost a taboo to speak in one's own language, it fehlt sort of discriminating against the companion.
The difference is very vivid.
Not only the language we prefere to use but also the amount of information we are ready to share does have a difference when compared to our northernmost fellow citizens. Many things are not open. When you come to the south, if not everything mostly people are more of easy going and open. If I am biased towards my group, then please correct me, with an evidence.
Somewhere I heard somebody commenting about the organizational structure of the TPLF,whereby mostly important issues are kept secret for the core members of the party.
In the case of the Oromos, everybody is enquiring and doesn't accept there should be some issues that is not destined for "his class". This is not universally practiced by all elements of the society but is evidently the overall tendency in the community. OLF might be an exception here.
Why this? And what has it caused?
It just came to my mind.
