Isaias used to sing and lament day and and night about Badme and border demarcation for two decades, however, over the last four years we never hear him singing those songs. Why?
Amhara exterimists have been singing about Welkait and Raya prior to Abiy and still have been continued to sing more laud and have included Addis Ababa, Metekel and Shoua to the song . Why ?
Oromos also used to sing laud about Finfine until the coming of Abiy to power but have been quite for the last four years even though Finfine is still separate from Oromia. Why?
The common answer for the last three cases is the land issue is not the main driver but other overriding political motives.
Isaias told us four years ago, border demarcation is no more important for him as he felt he had the political and military upper hand even to control Ethiopia and the Horn Africa and if he wants he could redraw the border of Eritrea to include most of Tigray even including Humera & Welkait. He invaded Tigray/Ethiopia in November 2020 with this objective and he has been forcing Tigrayans to accept Eritrean Identity or vacate the area they and ancestors have been living for generations. As Isaias looses more ground in Ethiopia and retreats he will resume the Badme and border demarcation song once again.
For the Amhara exterimists Welkait, Humera, Raya, Metekel , Addis Ababa, Shoua related songs are meant as steeping Stones on their journey and ambition to reenter Arat Killo Minilik palace. They cannot comphrend and accept the fact that a non-Amhara is in the palace built by Minilik ( even Minilik and Hilesselissie may not have been pure Amharas but they were definitely the promotors of the Amhara ideology. For Minilik it looks he was a hybrid of Amhara and Oromo and for Haile Selassie a hybrid of Oromo & Gurage with some Amhara blood but that does not matter to the Amhara exterimists as far us they promote the Amhara ideology.
The Finfine song by Oromos was also the stepping stone toward their journey to Arat Killo and we do not hear about it for the last four years except the underground efforts to bring demographic change, rename areas with Oromo names, use dual name for Addis Ababa and make Afaan Oromo the national language .
As a conclusion Amhara exterimists demand will not be solved after securing Welkait , Raya, Metekel/Benishangul , etc, at the sacrifice of the interest of majority of people who have lived in those areas, until they control the the Arat Killo Minilik palace by hook or by crook and they have to be stopped.
