Ministers to discuss bilateral cooperation



MOSCOW, 20 April. /TASS/. Foreign Ministers of Russia and Eritrea, Sergey Lavrov and Osman Saleh Mohammed will discuss bilateral cooperation at talks on April 27 in Moscow. This was stated during a briefing on Wednesday by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

On April 27, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will hold talks with Eritrean Foreign Minister during his working visit to Moscow. Key areas of cooperation in the political, trade, economic, investment, educational and humanitarian spheres will be discussed. Particular attention is planned to be paid to the further promotion of mutually beneficial economic ties,

she said.

Zakharova also noted that during the meeting it is planned to consider topical issues on the global and regional agenda,

the problems of normalizing the situation in African hot spots, the situation in the Horn of Africa region.

ASMARA, Eritrea – The UNHCR Regional Director for the East and Horn of Africa and the Great Lakes (EHAGL) Ms. Awu Nkweta Salami has begun a two-day official visit of the State of Eritrea. She is accompanied by the Head of the Protection Services for the EHAGL Mr. Charles Mballa.

During the two-day visit, the UNHCR delegation will hold high-level talks with Senior Government Officials and UN Development Partners.

This visit comes three months after the high-level visit by Regional Directors who were led by the Regional Director for the UN Development Coordination Office, Mr. Yacoub Ali El-Hillo, during which, the Cooperation Framework was launched.

Speaking after her arrival, head of delegation Ms. Nkweta said this visit helps to build on dialogue on various issues of mutual interest for both Government and the United Nations.

New gymnasium in Mendefera

Mendefera, 20 April 2022- New gymnasium equipped with modern facility has been opened on 17 April in Mendefera.

The gymnasium was established in cooperation with the National Association of Eritrean War Disabled Veterans, partners as well as branches of the association in Diaspora.

According to Mr. Woldezghi Tedros, head of the association branch in the Southern Region, the gymnasium will provide service to members with fair price and a physiotherapist assigned to the gymnasium will provide necessary guidance and assistance to users.

Mr. Woldezghi further said that the gymnasium will have significant contribution in the development of physical fitness, as well as in ensuring the overall health of members.

Indicating that previously the association has established gymnasiums in Asmara and Keren, Mr. Rezene Mebrahtu, head of health service at the National Association of Eritrean War Disabled Veterans, said that there is plan to establish similar facility in Barentu.

Mr. Rezene commended, the contribution the Diaspora nationals are making in support of the association.

Mr. Rezene also called on members to take advantage of the opportunity put in place.
