Abiy reminds me of a movie character in Fargo who is so desperate for money that he hires thugs (Isaias Afeworki) to kidnap his wife so that so that he can steal the $1 million ransom money to be paid by her wealthy dad / his father in-law (Just like Abiy invited Isaias to invade his territory - Tigray).
Fargo (1996) is a crime drama based on a true story set in Minnesota in 1987. The husband wanted to call off the kidnap on last minute but it was too late. The thugs ended up killing other people when things have gone wrong. They wouldn't stop the kidnap and asked him to double the fee (just like Isiaias is refusing to vacate Western Tigray leaving PM Abiy powerless.

Eden if you try to tell us that you watch movie and follow the plot line, just say so. We have never doubted your English language ability. Maybe , most probably, you attended the prestigious private school along with Melese’s daughter.
Yes, you got the movie Ok. What is amazing however is the people you substituted to describe the movie. As far as I know Abiy was not financially desperate. The guy is doing ok. In fact, he got a lot of money selling books, he gave a lot to charity. In other words Abiy does not fit the financially stressed out car salesman.
As for Isayes being bought by money is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. The guy is a president of a country, but lives a simple life.
Eden those two guys, especially Isayes, seemed to have made permanent residence in your little brain. You shouldn’t allow them to be there ; get rid of them.

I don't mean every aspect of the husband fit PM Abiy. For example, the husband had 1 son while Abiy has 2 / 3 daughters. But the core betrayal element of the story is what they have in common.
The husband
brought thugs to his family to kidnap his wife as Abiy
brought a regional thug to invade his territory.
Once the thugs have started doing their business the husband lost all the powers to call off the kidnap just like PM Abiy has lost the country's sovereignty to decide how to resolve the internal conflict.
Abiy has not got Isaias's ይሁንታ (permission ) to move Ethiopian forces from Western Tigray to resolve the conflict. Isaias's forces refused to leave Western Tigray and started to create a sub-national alliance with Amhara forces to sabotage Abiy plan for peaceful conclusion of the conflict.
The husband's decision to bring thugs into his family has permanently affected his relationship with his family. Likewise, PM Abiy's decision to bring Isaias to invade his territory will
fundamentally and permanently affect Tigray's relationship with Ethiopia.
