Let us consider two men from the Bible one who succeeded and the other one who failed to identify the success and failure factors for Abiy.

Joseph was a man of dream from childhood and his jealous brothers sold him to Egypt as slave. In Egypt he was sold to a government official and excelled as house servant and his master promoted him to manage every thing in the house, except his wife. The wife of Joseph's master fall in love with Joseph and she used to nag him to sleep with her. However, Joseph was God fearing, highly principled person and a man of character and refused to defile himself and betray his master. He could had easily convinced himself to make adultery with his master's wife as it may give him opportunity to free himself from slavery, with her support. However, Joseph refused to take the shortest path to his freedom until God prepared for him the way out and he was finally freed and become the Prime Minister of Egypt and saved his people and others from starvation and death.

Saul was anointed to be the King of Israel while he was looking for donkeys, that his father lost , and it looks he did not have a dream to be the King of Israel. But once he was declared King he was immediately obsessed and preoccupied with keeping his kingship and retaining it to his descendants. Instead of establishing intimate relationship with the God, who chose and anointed him to be King, and following His instructions, he was disregarding God's commands and disobeying. Ultimately God rejected Saul and replaced him by King David , who had very close relationship with God all his life.

As a summary, Joseph had the personal character and integrity to realize his Godly dream and sustain it. Whereas Saul did not have the character and integrity to sustain his kingship and fulfilling his dream of passing it to his child.

Abiy has the dream to lead Ethiopia from his childhood and it looks he was preparing for it for so many years. However, Abiy was too eager/ambitious and obsessed to see the day he will be the leader of Ethiopia and he was taking unprincipled and wrong short paths to achieve his Godly dream such as playing as a double agent while working for INSA( passing secrets to Ginbot 7 & OLF) and secretly leading the bloody and destructive riots in Oromia from 2015 until he came to power at the beginning of 2018 and his possible secret( treason) dealings with Eritrea, Egypt and others before and after he become PM ( it worth to note that Abiy's agreement with Isaias is still a top secret and is not ratified by the Parliament of the country). After he become PM, he made a number of good speeches and made a number of false and unfulfilled commitments that tarnished his image as a leader and displayed him as untrustworthy. Last but not list he allowed himself to be under the mentorship and control of the already "well known and proven destructive and cruel dictator" Isaias Afeworki, just for a short term gain of freeing himself from the influence of TPLF and destroying them( ungratefulness and betrayal to the party that brought him from teenager soldier to PM position). As a direct product of his unprincipled relationship with Isaias, hundreds of thousands of Ethiopians have already died over the last 4 years under his watch and he is currently at war with OLA in Oromia and preparing himself for more war and blood shed with TPLF, Fano and others. During this period, Ethiopia's image has been tarnished globally and its economy has also been destroyed. Abiy also has put a cruel and illegal genocidal siege since June 2021 on the Tigray people and already thousands of people have died and millions of people are under the risk of starvation and death. With the growing tension between Tigray and Amhara, Oromo and Amhara and Somalia and Afar, which most of them Abiy or his agents have instigated, the country is already a failed state, with governmental rules and regulations in disarray and with deep & uncontrolled corruption, and on the verge a full blown civil war, while Abiy is still obsessed in trying to retain and cling to his power.

Abiy is already a failed leader and the main reasons for his failure are lack of principled integrity and character( lie, false promises, betrayal, treason etc) , making maneuvers with short term gain but destructive strategic impacts, obsession to stay in power at any cost, ungodly relationship with Isaias, not sensitive to the suffering and death of the people he claims he represent or to the country he claims he loves, etc.

The following is a short outline in Amharic, on how Abiy may had been allowed himself to be cheated by Isaias, which he should had said no same as Joseph said no to his master's wife!
