Can/Should Abiy settle or resolve the age-old animosity Amharas and Eritreans have with Tigrians?

Tigrians have enemies all-around. They have been at loggerheads with Amharas for centuries and with Eritreans for about a century. The ‘Solomonic Dynasty’ drove the domination of the Amharas in terms of the Abyssinian rule over the Tigrians.

Similarly, the Tegarus have been cross with Eritreans (Tigrigna) at least ever since they got separated with them a century ago. Tegarus have outperformed themselves and taken baby steps to start another rift - now with the Afaris.

But to the point, wouldn’t it be drowning in the middle (be’anatu) for Abiy to try to resolve conflicts that have been simmering for centuries?

Today, both Amharas and Eritreans want Abiy to “finish off” Tegarus (or to use the code word “TPLF”). How can he do it? Is it even possible? Most armchair analysts and those inflicted with political naïveté HATE Abiy because Abiy has not finished off TPLF and didn’t close their centuries’ old conflict.

Good thing for Abiy, the naïve political elites are asking for the sky while ordinary people have bread and beutter
issues giving him the disconnect he needs to compartmentalize the elite from the people.

That’s why ANDM (BeAaDeN) and Isayas laugh at these so-called analysts who’re beleaguered with naïveté and crushed with the weight of their political immaturity.

The issue with the mentality of the highlanders in contrast to the Galla and South is a difference of night and day. Cost/benefit analysis comes next to vengeance and win-lose paradigm. Most other world functions on political paradigm of win-win based on national interest of the people. Almost uniquely the highlanders of Eritrea, Tigray and Amhara function on not on the common good of you and me, but “I win but you have to lose!”

Think of the Badme war for that land and the 20 years after that. Instead of Tigray using Eritrean ports and Eritrea making business of it, the highlander vengeance mentality (lose-lose) kept both peoples losing irreversible gains that their peoples will not ever recover.

Think of the TPLF warmongering and what it cost all in the region - destroying schools and clinics and factories as if that was a sign of victory. Imagine schools and clinics?! OMG!

Also look at us! You and me! Look at the discussions in this forum and the reflection of that backward, uncivilized and ignorant mentality that shaped our upbringing. “I have to win but you have to lose!”

The reflection of the mentality of the Galla and South in the political polity of the country is a good contribution to the country as the highlanders’ vengeance mentality is unbecoming to the modern government system.

This is not about being critical to you or anyone. It is food for thought on how the mentality we inherited is damaging and unhealthy.

Way to go is empowering Oromos to such an extent that they’d be determinants of the fate of Oromos - Oromia and Finfinne with or without federal political power. Political power that has no clout over Oromia is impotent, defanged and ineffectual. To do that, work is being done. The chances of Oromia falling again under any other power is unsustainable, unthinkable and unacceptable by Oromos.

So resource should be geared towards this and not resolving the problems of highlanders whose only drive is mettelalef, basking with joy of seeing the fall of their neighbor and who live for the purpose of putting an obstacle to their brother - and most of all resort to war to fight to finish each other up. So why get into their childish culture of zero-sum game?

As tegarus are Ethiopians, yes Abiy can forgive or reconcile with his tigray people, but I don’t believe he will let the black listed woyane officials off the hook and as far as Eritrea, Abiy, the UN, USA or your god can’t reconcile Eritrea with the funfunat agames. They are Eritrea’s enemies and we will destroy them one way or the other.
The funfunat agames need to publicly apologize for the crimes they committed on Eritreans while they were in power in Ethiopia and then see where the chips may fall.

Yes that is exactly what I’m referring to. The highlanders are full of hatred for each other and Abiy is leaving them to their own vices. But to come back and cry on Oromuma or Abiy or pouting like a baby because he’s not fighting your war is unreasonable. One day when adults come to the scene, the contempt and hatred you guys have for each other would be dealt with in a more civilized manner that would have the interests of your peoples at heart. Meanwhile it’s always good to pinch oneself once in a while and tell yourself if you could (at least theoretically) see other people’s point of view and respond soberly.

You're the 'new' kid in the block, attempting to set the tone with your 'Oromo'-sounding name and all - never seem to get tired of imparting your 'wisdom', analyzing me and my people and chastising us for failing to see the obvious......while doing all these in your usual soliloquy style, devoid of context and any cognitive content.......Yet you never seem to see the irony of it when you accuse Cigar of not seeing your 'point of view'....What point of view??????

I admit I like reading your scribbles now and then during my 15-min coffee breaks. Please carry on with your navel-gazing!

The animosity the Amhara have towards the Tigray stems from the 30-year long illegal annexation of Amhara territories by the Tigray expansionists. The same is true with the Eritreans who saw their sovereign territories occupied by the Tigray mercenaries at the behest of Neo-colonial powers.

So far, PM Abiy Ahmed has effectively resolved the territorial issues by allowing the Amhara to reclaim their stolen territories, and by ordering the withdrawal of Tigray mercenary forces from occupied Eritrean territories, although outside meddling in the region's affairs has emboldened the Tigray to reject the Ethiopian government's orders, resulting in a military conflict that has so far claimed the lives of 900,000 Tigray youth and child soldiers.

The Tigray's irrational hostility towards Ethiopia and Eritrea that finds expression in Western media and on the Social media, cannot change the reality on the ground, and it will soon die out in smoke and mirrors.

TPLF is attacking Amharas and its hatred for Amharas knows no bounds. More than anything else, Amhara region has become the training and wrestling ring of TPLF when it needs to make some noise to the international community. Real Amharas know their real enemy whereas the ttellala and the asmesayis shrill about their host and friend OPDO/Finfinne/Oromo-PP/Abiy blablabla
