Ethiopia has all the conditions necessary to be an ally of the advanced western countries that is Europe and USA. They needed Ethiopia to safeguard their interests which is threatened by Islamic Fundamentalism. Ethiopia is home to more then 80 million Christians and has core christian values. Whereas countries like Egypt, Sudan are Muslim dominated countries and have fundamentally diametrically opposed interests with The West.

Even though the West is gaining some ground in Ethiopia again through Tigray, but this is uncertain as TPLF is based on ethnic federalism which runs against a united country. Ethnic Federalism is exclusive of communities that do not belong to that ethnic group. It is does not guarantee equality through consensus and principles of law. TPLF lacks the political consciousness to solve the ethnic discrimination in Ethiopia. TPLF should stand for a united Ethiopia and discard ethnic federalism as impractical. We need to create federalism based on economic needs of the population and create a country wide identity. It should be acceptable for Oromos to dance and celebrate in their language in Tigray or Amhara. It should be natural for Tigray communities to celebrate and promote their culture any where in the world. They should not be killed or threatened for being Tigrayans which is happening in today's Ethiopia.

The lack of competitive political elites in Ethiopia made it for USA and EU difficult to co-operate with Ethiopia. Countries like Kenya, Uganda etc cannot be strategic allies with the West because they were slaves and colonized peoples. Thus the West is loosing Africa to China and Russia. Ethiopia may be also lost.
