I appreciate and respect Eskinder Nega for the peaceful, unrelenting, consistent and bold struggle against undemocratic governments and for the sacrifice he has been paying and willing to pay to bring democracy to Ethiopia. However, after his release from the recent arrest he is shifting from promoter and practitioner of nonviolent struggle to violent and divisive struggle. He thinks TPLF and OLA and other federalist forces have to be completely destroyed to keep Ethiopia united and he has been positioning himself to be the patriarch of the FANO's and "Addis Ababa based youth movements" to use them against the Ethiopian government and other forces. It looks he and his supporters are organizing and brain washing the "Addis Ababa youth movements" to be lawless and militant and to ultimately hold hostage and coerce the Ethiopian government to do whatever they want it to do. This development is dangerous, as it is going to destabilize the country at its core and bring deadly confrontation with the security system of the government. Even on the flag issue he and his supporters could wait until the Ethiopian people decide, it could be through referendum, which type of flag to have. The agitation, argument and confrontation which flag to use for the present/ future Ethiopia is untimely since the very survival of the country is at stake. In my view Eskindir Nega is making same mistake Jawar Mohammed made three to four years ago in trying to use emotionally agitated and charged organized youth to arm twist the government, which is not going to be effective. It looks as Jawar Mohammed becomes mature and responsible politician, Eskinder Nega is acting as a desperate and inexperienced politician. I recommend to him to settle down and re-strategize!
