Popular associations and commercial fronts failed to convince officials in Gedaref state to reopen the Gallabat border crossing with Ethiopia.

Yesterday, in the city of Gallabat, an expanded meeting took place, which included the Sudanese-Ethiopian People's Assembly and the traders of border trucks with the Crossing Security Committee. Sudan and Ethiopia. The traders confirmed that the closure of the crossing had negative effects and with it the per capita income declined among the Sudanese who benefited from the commercial movement and the transport of goods.

They accused influential people of being involved in smuggling and transporting goods by illegal means in exchange for sums of money to facilitate the procedures for their entry and transit through Sudanese territory.

According to the sources, the meeting concluded to postpone the opening of the crossing, especially since its closure was by a decision of the Sovereign Council. It is noteworthy that the Sovereignty Council had excluded gas trucks from the decision to close and ordered the crossing to be opened for their passage to Ethiopia, which has already contributed to alleviating the cooking gas crisis that was escalating on the side Ethiopian.
