This article makes no sense. As a person from Somaliland who supports Somaliland being officially an independent country it's important we have a special relationship with our next door neighbour Ethiopia especially since we both face a potential common threat which is a recovered Somalia. We have to be alert to the risk that Somalia wants to annex not just all of Somaliland but Ethiopia's Somali region too.
While independence should be the only option for Somaliland, it makes more sense for Somaliland to unite with Ethiopia than to reunite with failed state Somalia. This is why not a full unification but a confederation between Somaliland and Ethiopia should take place whereby we fully integrate our economies and share the same currency plus no immigration restrictions whatsoever. Ethiopia has to recognise SL independence first however
