Different peoples have different heroes and different villains
Eritreans and Ethiopians are two different peoples and naturally have different heroes and villains.
Alula Engida and Kassa Kebede are heroes of some sort in Ethiopia and villains in Eritrea, while Tesfaye Gebreab is a hero in Eritrea but villain in Ethiopia. Isaias Afeworki is a hero in Eritrea and villain in many parts of Ethiopia, most definitely in Tigray.
These are natural states of affairs among different peoples, with different histories and different past and future trajectories. There is nothing strange about this.
What has been confusing some Eritreans and many Ethiopians is the foolish and unrepresentative statements made by Eritrean leaders including Isaias Afeworki in the wake of the peace agreement between Ethiopia and Eritrea, that we are one and the same people, a statement that is totally unrepresentative of how Eritreans feel about the matter.
Eritreans do see not Ethiopians as brothers, or enemies, or one people or two people, but simply as neighbours. So, there is no reason to argue, or agree for that matter, whether Tesfaye is a hero or a villain. Tesfaye is a genuine hero in Eritrea whose remains will be given a hero's welcome and a hero's sending once they return from Kenya. Ethiopia's presence in welcoming Tesfaye's remains is neither required nor requested.
Different peoples have different heroes and different villains! Neighbours most certainly need not have same heroes and same villains.

Speak for yourself idiot. As for tesfaye Gebreab was he not a derg soldier? From his own account he was also a tplf cadre. Just because he wrote some books now he's a hero? Do not try to pass your own views as the whole country's view.

Re: Different peoples have different heroes and different villains
Tesfaye Gebreab was Never was a hero in Eritrean nor contributed anything for her. He was born from Eritrean parents and toward his end of life, he visited and stayed in Eritrea. He was treated as any Eritrean who is lost in someone’s identity from birth. The issue we have with those so called “Amaras” here who do not wants his soul to rest in peace is because they are hypocrites. Their own people, such as Lidetu Ayalew, Ermiyas Leggeae, Habtom and many more are still aligned themselves with their enemy, the Weyane, and spewing hate on regular basis but you will never hear them saying anything…it because…they are them, the Amaras.

Heroes come in many colours, Ag'azit. Eritrea has excess of heroes in many fields, too many to count from our war of liberation (wedi Efrem, Hamed Asmara, Wuchu, etc). Some from the sports field, cycling (Biniam Girmay, Merhawi Kudus, etc), marathon (Ghirmay, Zeresenay, etc), football (Alex Issac, etc), winning competitions at world arenas. Still some, performing artists like Wedi Tikul, Bereket, Alamin Abdel-letif, etc. And others, men of letters like brother Tesfaye, who was making efforts to document important aspects of Eritrean history (Nurenebi, Caves of Tiravollo); and was also half-way writing the story of Abraham Tecle, etc. So, let's be generous, Ag'azit haftey, there is enough room under the Eritrean sky for heroes other than Isaias, Abdelqadir Romodan, Berhe Tsaada, Se'id Salih, Mesfin Hagos, Melake Tekle, Ali 'brihim, etc.
Our men of letters are also heroes of some sort, role models for our aspiring youth. Don't let no Ethiopian tell you otherwise!

Tesfaye Gebreab might be an Oromo hero but from eritrean point of view, he was an opportunist [ deleted ] Who only became eritrean after he was ditched by the leeches. Having said, it is with in our culture and norm to say መንግስተ ሰማይ የዋርሶ.

Re: Different peoples have different heroes and different villains
Tesfaye a villain in Ethiopia? Maybe if Ethiopia is only Amhara kilil?
Otherwise, I can say with confidence that we Oromos don't have an issue with him. He is a honorary Oromo in a sense and he documented the Gada system and documented our history, from our perspective.
If someone here, instead of responding with insults, can prove him wrong on any historical claims, such as meneliks evil deeds against Oromos, appropriation of their lands which is a big reason for the Oromo farmers poverty, etc, then do so! Otherwise, it's clear that you're mad that he helped expose the crimes the Ethiopian empire committed against Oromo and why many Oromo hate the leaders of it, from tewodros to yohannes to menelik to mengistu, meles, etc.

Tesfaye was not ditched by Agames, he ditched them. If you want to see the face of a dirty opportunist just go to a mirror. You were an Agame lover until November 2020, when they were defeated. Before that you were an Agame-arse kisser.
As for Tesfaya, he had emigrated to Holland and could have lived and prospered there. He did not need to come to Eritrea. But we are richer because he did. His creative genius found a rich soil in Eritrea. We mourn his death greatly for great works that we know he would have produced had he lived.

As a low IQ cheerleader, you don't know what entails to be considered as a hero. he was a woyane condom before he was ditched because his service was expired. hence, i don't see his heroism here.
btw, How are eritreans enriched by the late Tesfaye Gebreab

If you want to know how we were enriched by him, read the books he wrote after he settled in Eritrea. An agame arse-kisser like you of course has no understanding of intellectual enrichment!
