He is talented writer no doubt. Unfortunately, Ethiopia is fractured along ethnic lines thanks to Adwa's TPLF. As such, whatever you do in Ethiopia is judged through ethnic prism. Amhara's mostly hate him because of his criticism to Menelik. Oromo's love him because they think that he conveyed their cause. Eritreans are sympathetic because of his origin. His works will only be judged with cool heads once Ethiopia goes past the current ethnic divisions. I think we have to see this from that perspective and understand people's reactions without being judgmental. By the way, I like your analysis about Adwa's TPLF.

I do see that you have little knowledge about Tesfaye. According to his own writings, even top Shabia security agents were appalled and disgusted by what he told them on what he is doing and when he engaged in some evil activities. Here is what he said himself

Tesfaye was one of the best writers in Amharic who was clearly influenced by the likes of Bealu Girma (Oromay, KeAdmas Bashager etc.). His contribution to the Amharic literature and his beautiful writing style is undeniable.

Tesfaye worked with TPLF for full 7 years. He was their communication head for those years and Meles Zenawi effectively used him. Agames noticed his writing skills (which is undeniable) used his skills and hate for their own goal by publishing books after books that demonizes amharas which is the result of hundreds of thousands of death and distruction in Oromia region. Brother misraq, it is all about prospective and upbringing. It is not about origin of countries.
You know that there were too many of Ethiopian origin (100% Ethiopians, some born in Eritrea and some not) who joined EPLF have ranks even now in Eritrea's high positions.
These people specially the ones who were born or raised inside Eritrea only know about Eritrea's matters (because they lived it) and indirectly got indoctrinated to be part of the Eritrean struggle so much so they raised arms and were sacrificing to free Eritrea fighting against their own country's regimes.
And this guy (R.I.P) is a victim of the Oromo society. By default he is forced to be like that. Had he was born or raised in the Amhara regions or any other region he involuntarily would have advocated for his regional ethnicity society first with Eritrea second and Ethiopia in general as third.
