There is nothing shocking about Abiy Ahmeds decision on not going to Mekele!
The only reason to enter Mekele is to revenge TPLF Looters which will once again help the Western Elites sabotage Ethiopia’s economic political gains. There wont be any push to build a government in tigray or feeding chigray Abiy Ahmed knows it will be a big revenge on Tigrays by their neighbors and he doesn’t want to get blamed for it.
Abiy Ahmed likes to go the easy way he doesn’t want to be like Mengistu Hailemariam and fall into weyanes trap. Once Mekele is entered it also has to be left by Ethiopians
we are ready to revenge Tigray Invaders in our own Kilils

The West want him to lose either way and unless he gets experts including forigners advice and do some kind of negotiations, they have him by the balls. If he doesn't go in Mekele, Tplf will purse, not going to them means weakness and there is fear is code for be on the offense. It is war after all and who is to win. By not winning the war, and like Syria they want to continue the war till they win. They are also hoping his supporters will wear down and he will lose his supporters as the war will not be over and already he is being blamed for it. It is double edge sword.
