You see, they will get scared and will never accept. So, my brother, getting one or two countries at the permanent seat would by itself a good gain. After all, if the goal of the continent is to form one economic and political block, I don't see the need to ask for 54 seats. And I don't know from what angle you are saying when you say Ethiopia is not apt to play a global role. If you can elaborate this"...when they are one or two, they are OK and good for decoration but when they are many they would invade us and become scary...".

As an Eritrean, my personal preference , and I'm sure I speak for all 1.2 billion Africans, is to form an organization representing all 54 African countries at the UN Security Council. Ethiopia, a country that has until recently been a bona fide neo-colony and an aid darling of the west for the last century, still has a significant amount of work to do in order to become a trusted partner in the continent's call for a permanent Security Council seat. It has a long way to go to break the shackles of Neo-colonialism that has made it the Sick man of Africa. Focus on the healing process and you will be fine.
History tells us that Haile Selassie was the biggest sellout in Africa's history next to the TPLF. You can romanticize his "great achievements" all you want, and even worship him as "god", as he had regarded himself, but the fact remains that the blasphemous midget whose only accomplishments were to play the role of white colonialists to colonize his fellow black Africans, never had the Ethiopian people's interest at heart, let alone the continent's.Horus wrote: ↑14 Dec 2021, 19:00Fiyameta
You assessment is not supported by history. Find and look at Haile Selassie picture with Patrice Lumumba, Mandela, Garang; Mengistu with African liberation fighter, all the way to OAU and today. Yes, a handful of Tigriean northern tribes had been disrupting this historic nation for almost 60 years and brought a tribal consciousness upon the people. But look where they are poor, insignificant, marginal and still fighting. No, Ethiopia has been a player in world politics going back centuries and the recently freed Africans know how significant Ethiopia is! As we speak Ethiopia is exercising a massive soft power in global politics that the world is witnessing. The so called healing is precisely the wound which the Tigrean tribes caused and wounded or not Ethiopia will move on....
I would trust Eritrea and South Africa. Ethiopia of Dr Abiyot could also be acceptable. There is no such thing as an organization representing all 54 African countries. Africans are easy to blackmail and bribe. Sanctions were imposed on Eritrea with the help of those easy to blackmail and bribe Africans although until now no one in his right mind could talk about Africa. African consciousness and solidarity is still not there.Fiyameta wrote: ↑14 Dec 2021, 06:06Some people have eyes bigger than their stomach.

The thinking among the ዘውድ ናፋቂ Ethiopian elite is that, only a country, not a continent, can be seated at the UNSC, hence their rationale for the self-serving bias masquerading as merit, which says "Ethiopia should represent Africa at the UNSC level," when in fact this is a typical behavior of sense of entitlement as having served the interests of every global power in history which they believe has greatly improved their resume to accentuate the "darling of the West" status they don't want to depart from, even when their lives, and that the survival of their nation, depends on the people to have the courage to stand on their own two solid feet.Abe Abraham wrote: ↑14 Dec 2021, 19:55I would trust Eritrea and South Africa. We Africans are not interested in taking part in the ዘውድ ናፋቂ's popularity contest when we are committed to taking charge of our own affairs without outside intervention. ብቻውን የሮጠ አንደኛ እንደሚወጣ ሳይታለም የተፈታ ነገር ነው።![]()
