I was a kid when he came to Abiy Adi and given the manuscript of Raesi Alula written in Geez from his daughter. Part of my mother's father and Raesi Alula are close relatives and Raesi Alula daughter was very close with my mother father and used to go with him and listen so many things. How time goes fast, this is the first time I saw his video picture as a young vibrant guy now he is old.

Amazing story. His book "Ras Alula and the Scramble for Africa: A Political Biography : Ethiopia & Eritrea, 1875-1897" is out of print.

Sure, Donald Levin would say the same thing about Amara, and all the other Jewish Ethiopian scholars who are in love with the particular people whom they studied for their PHDs. In fact After the 1974 revolution, we haven't had a single Western Ethiopian expert. Why? As we speak, there is not one western academic expert on Ethiopia. All these aging Haile Selassie era students of Ethiopia using dated old knowledge of Ethiopia. Knowledge of anything has its own shelf life. Sociology and anthropology of Ethiopian tribes of 60 and 50 years ago is only good for library shelves.

The Ethiopian reality is 50 years newer than the knowledge these former students of Ethiopia hold. This is also the same mistake USA is currently making - using the same play book Carter used to finance TPLF for 15 years in the woods and 30 years in Addis. Ethiopia is now an entirely new place.

In one area out skirt of Abiy Adi about 30 miles called “Chini river” we used to go there once a year in May called “Erget Holiday” during elementary school, this is a biblical legendary story (God Nab Semay Z’aregelu). Chini is water shade throughout the year and covered with thousands of years old “Daero and Shagla” trees and nice Kokhi stones/sandstone and the river is deep valley both sides planted natural curved limestone and I used to see many Hebrew alphabet written on the stones

Chini river was dammed and providing water to the residents of the area until Shaebia came to Tembien, they dismantled and took all the small water pumper engine motors to Eritrea.

Nearby another legendary story, there is one very huge dome and it has one gate but the gate or door for entrance is blocked by curved stone, this dome used to be a church but the myth story goes like this…. One Sunday morning the priests came late for prier and God was angry and he closed them inside the dome and remained until know closed. Near by the hill a kind of caravan men, women and children lined up looks like they were going down the hill towards the closed church to open the gate but God frozen them before they reached the dome church. Now when I think about it, it was a myth story written by our older generation Tigrayans left the story to the next Tigrayans to be mesmerize us about art works.

Below video shows where the Dome church, the caravans frozen at the hill you see in the video and the Dome church made from mountain but isolated and 360 degree is plain land just dome alone and Chini river to the left side of the video picture.

Misraq Amela,

It is not just Lasta Lalibela and Sokota but Qelemti, Tsegede, Adiy Arqay, Endabat aka Dabat, Duba erki aka Dubark, Simain mt, Tahtay Armachiho, Abraha Jira and Metema Yohannes are the old Tembien province. Tigray is separated from Ahiya zer by Qimant once for all.
