WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. State Department on Monday said Washington believes there is a small window of an opening to work with the African Union to make progress on peacefully resolving the conflict in Ethiopia as a special envoy returned to Addis Ababa.

State Department spokesman Ned Price said Jeffrey Feltman, the U.S. Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa, will meet with the African Union's envoy for the region, former President Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria, on Monday night.

"We believe there is a small window of opening to work with the AU High Representative for the Horn of Africa ... to further joint efforts to peacefully resolve the conflict in Ethiopia," Price told reporters.

The Ethiopian diplomatic core is always a mile behind when it comes to diplomacy . reactionary instead of setting the terms of any negotiation , and when they react they look bad and weyanes look " reasonable" This is the government of Ethiopia negotiating with a fringe terrorist group so as government representing 100 million + people it should set the terms of the negotiation. The Abiy government says it is waiting for what Obasanjo of Nigeria is going to bring to the table. Weyanes had set up 3 or preconditions before though they knew they are not going get what they were deluding themselves. Abiys government should make it public what the Ethiopian people should expect from the negotiation. What are not negotiable under any circumstances and what it is willing to consider . That sets the terms of the negotiation if the government needs to tweak it-- it can do but would not go astray from those basic principles.. Also at this time while the weyanes are holding the Amhara regions the negotiation should not start in earnest, the Ethiopian government should revers the war in its favor , a government of 100 million + can not and should not negotiate from a position of weakness, this would give weyanes a false sens they forced the government that will be bad for the Ethiopian people . So within a week, the government should clear wayeans from the areas they are in . This snail response is costing the Ethiopian people much more than it should. Get these morons out by any means necessary. It is tiring hearing hyperbola and empty talk . Actin is what counts . Action wise the government has a deficit that it needs to recover from .
