The temperature in the often laid back capital city of Africa -- Addis Ababa -- has just started to rise up this weekend. Addis is feeling the heat in Wello.
No, it is not the Tej and the Amabasel and Bati masinqo beats. It is the Tigrayan TDF, popularly known as the Woyanie Tigrie militia army are coming back. Soon, within a day or two, they will reach the strategic town of Mille, on the Addis - Djibouti road, that is the main artery of Ethiopia.
Eventually, Addis will feel the heat and the highest temperature or the heat wave of the last 30 years.
The effect will be :
This week the consumer price index will increase sharply, expect inflation to rise.
People will rush to the banks to withdraw cash; expect long line ups.
The US dollar, Euro, the Gulf currencies, Gold, petrol, spareparts will rise up and appreciate as the Ethiopian Birr weakens
Flights from Addis to Europe, North America and the Gulf will be fully booked.
Many people will be desperate to leave Ethiopia, especially Ethiopians with foreign citizenship and expatriates who work in Ethiopia
In the last few days before Abiy leaves, the police will disperse and crime is expected to rise depending on location and town.
... Within few weeks after the heat wave and the storm deluge that follows, things will be calmer. Addis Abebans being the most civilized people, life will continue as normal.

The security environment in Ethiopia has deteriorated significantly in the last several days with a continued escalation of armed conflict and civil unrest in Amhara, Afar and Tigray. A significant portion of the A2 highway connecting Addis Ababa with cities to the north has been restricted by Federal authorities which has led to disruptions, stranded travelers, and a generally non-permissive travel environment.

U.S. Embassy personnel are currently restricted from traveling outside of Addis Ababa city limits. We strongly suggest that U.S. citizens seriously reconsider travel to Ethiopia and those who are currently in Ethiopia consider making preparations to leave the country.

U.S. citizen’s full name and date of birth;
The U.S. citizen’s U.S. passport number, if known;
