This is an oversimplification. To begin with DC is not a state. LA, Denver, and Seattle are not states. Yes, California, which LA is part of, is a reliable blue state. Washington State, which is Seattle is part of, for the last two decades or so is a reliable blue state. Colorado, which Denver is part of, not a reliable blue state. In fact in the last election the Republican senator was defeated. It still is a purple state.
Rather than DC it is better to name Maryland. It is a reliable blue state, and thousands of Ethiopians live there.
I have issue with 90 percent mentioned. Thousands of Ethiopians live in Minneapolis. Thousands of Ethiopians live in Nevada. Both are not reliably blue states. Thousands of Ethiopians live in Georgia and Texas. Texas is definitely a red state. Georgia until the last election was a reliable red state.

The general election is 3 years away. none of today’s issue might not materialize 3 years from now. As you may remember, 3 years ago, Abiy was the most beloved leader in the history of ethiopian politics…we didn’t know he was about to win the noble prize this time, three years ago.

you got my point though. i was trying to state the obvious—Ethiopians mostly migrate to states with great low income social support which happen to be the solid blue states like California. Georgia is the only swing state (it used to be red) that Ethiopians might have a chance. The counties where Ethiopians reside like Decatur and Stone Mountain are heavily represented by immigrant voters.
Another important factor is voter turn out. What percent of Ethiopians in Georgia are registered to vote. How many of these do actually vote.

Focus on Ethiopians who are living in Georgia. There are close to 50 thousand strong Ethiopians. Biden won Georgia with 11,000 votes-- undue that Biden is going to be toasted.
