Time for a strong opposition party

After the disappointing appointment of ministers, I think our country can't excel beyond the capacity of PP. As a dominant and the only biggest party, it looks like PP has become a bottleneck. We are stuck with the incompetent officials of PP at the highest position even though we have more than enough capable and skilled manpower to do much better.

The current appointment of ministers and the members of parliament by no way reflect the "crème de la crème" of the society. We have way better capable manpower almost in every sector in the society than what PP can offer the country.

The Addis Ababa council alone seem to gather way more educated and successful individuals than the country's parliament. PP was not able to replicate what it did in Addis Ababa, i.e. gather as much well educated and high performing individuals as possible. What we have in the country's parliament is mostly a collection of low performing and incompetent bunch. There are of course few exceptions.

We need a fierce competition at the federal level so that high skilled and successful individuals fill the parliament and lead ministries. It is time for a strong opposition party that has a wide social base and that can mobilize the best performing and skilled people to lead this country. The strong competition alone will force PP to replace all its incompetent members and to seek for the performers in the society just as it did in Addis.

The challenge for a strong opposition party with wider society base is of course huge in a diverse country like ours but it is a must if we don't want to be satisfied with low standard and low performing PP officials.

I agree. Abiy's cacophony was finally to fill the parliament with such pack of cadres whose key criteria is their loyalty to him. Far below those in the EPRDF times. Very very bad. Besides, I fear that the the PP is sounding more and more like the Chinese communist party planning to monopolize every aspect of life in the country in the name of the word prosperity. Thus is very dangerous and there must be a strong party with people of high caliber. Its funny but I was also exactly saying the AA cabinet is far better than the pack of cadres misplaces as .ministers in Abiy's cabinet. I thought he's smarter than this.
