Abiy Ahmed does not have the knowledge and the sophistication to lead a complex country like Ethiopia.
Ethiopia has hit rock bottom with Abiy, I don't think it will ever have a worse leader ever. Abiy has been promoted to a level of his own incompetence as they say in Peter's Principle.

Omg, a leader of a country doesn't even know this elementary knowledge? No wonder Ethiopia's relationship with the international community is at its lowest.
This is pure proof that Abiy is the product of a system that promotes the trading of degrees and diplomas. I wonder how much he paid for his PhD
I am sure 90% of the parliament members believed him when he stated such erroneous statement.

Eden, your adrenaline going because Abiy made a mistake. Let us take him to ICC court. My mistake that is for another thing. Abiy should check every public statements he makes before he delivers it. He is not an average Joe. He shouldn’t make Eden’s day easy.
But Abiy was not entirely wrong. The way he said it was wrong. The US education department did not exist until 1980. It was Jimmy Carter who created it. Since its inception Republicans have tried to bury it. They have not succeeded so far, but who knows.
The Abiy argument that he wants to make runs like this : in rich countries the private sector runs almost everything unlike poor country like ours. That is a correct statement.
I repeat Abiy should make sure his statements are not open to interpretation.
Why you think American presidents read from the teleprompter ? It is because when one makes speech for hours, it is likely than not to say what he is not anticipated to say.
Cool down, Eden, Ethiopia is not embarrassed because of Abiy’s statement. I appreciate though about your “honest” concern about Ethiopia’s reputation.
