Birr in Crused Land Chigray

Beles used as Birr in Chigray the invention of Halafi 
ይኸ ቁልቋል የሚጨረግደው ፈረንጅ Martin Plaut ማርቲን ፕላውት ነው እንዴ?
Is cactus /ቁልቋል/ an export cash crop like coffee ? I never heard of any country importing cactus or earned hard currency or Birr. In any case, the ፈረንጅ eats is more voracious than a giraffe or an elephant does on wild cactus tree.
