You have to know the history to know why Amhara resent Tigregu strongly.

Along with stealing and trying to Amharanize Tigregu history including Axumite, the Tewahedo faith and Ge'ez, Amhara always got humiliated by the much much smaller Tigregu.

In the memorable history, three events stand out the most:-


1. The defeat and humiliation of Atse Tewodros II of Gondar.

Tigray native Ras Kassa saw the opportunity and grabbed it with both hands. He led the British to Tewodros hideout in Magdala.

Tewodros was defeated, humiliated and forced to commit suicide.

His entire family, treasure and throne looted.

On 21 January 1872, Ras Kassa was crowned in Aksum as Emperor Yohannes IV by abunä Atnatyos. This was a major humiliation and again relevant to today, others killed Yohannes not Amhara. Amhara were running just like today. Yohannes was killed by the Beja (Mahdist Dervishes).

Menelik was made by the Galla (Ras Muhammad Ali, Makonnen, Gobana, Balcha, Workitu) same way today they leading the halt of Tigregu with Birhanu Jula and General Bacha Debele.

Amhara can't claim nor conceal Jula (he used to hunt Amhara during TPLF rule) but Bacha Debele is another Oromo.

Bacha Debele was a commander of the Eastern Corps, better known for its ruthless quashing of the Oromo rebellion against the Meles Zenawi government in Ethiopia in 2002.


2. The 1991 TPLF rise to power.

Tigregu walked through Amhara without firing a single bullet. Their hands we long up.





3. 2021 historical chase



History of Tewahedo is history of Tigray with Axum being the most holiest.
