My father lived in Berbera as a young lad. He worked in a restaurant before he migrated from Berbera to Aden, Riyadh then around the world including UK, Iran, Zimbabwe, Philippines, Australia...he was a merchant ship worker.

So great story. He told me he used to earn like 5cent and save up. He built an empire this way and got my family out of poverty.

Then his luck came when he sold livestock animals in Aden for 10x usual price because there was some British blockade so high demand.

That's when he built my grandmother her first house in Hargeisa.

Eventually, we returned to Ethiopia for business.
