Nothing is more insulting than this comment of American Embassy in Addis Ababa

"We are currently feeding roughly 7% of Ethiopia's citizens in every corner of the country".

Madam/Sir, it can't be in every corner of the country, because 7% can't cover every corner of the country, but still that is a big number, it was our fault to wait for your help.

Still may we ask, Madam/Sir, since when are you feeding that many of the citizens and if your support has declined or rised over the years?

If it is rising over the time, then may we assume that your help has been used as a stimulus for additional help all along?
If it is declining, then are you prepared to stop your help so that the people would help themselves and be self-sufficient?

If the ratio remained the same, then may we ask, Madam/Sir, why are you keeping the people dependent? Wouldn't it have been better to help people to help themselves over time instead of keeping them dependent on aid and turn around and brag that much about how much you are feeding?

I am not blaming you, rather I am blaming myself, for such dehumanizing statement of yours.

Yes, it is dehumanizing. But we are the reason for it. We spend all the foreign currency we borrow on weapons to kill our own brothers and sister rather than investing it on our people. We hate our own fellow Ethiopians because they speak a different language than ours.

"We" is collective here. I don't think everybody is equally responsible, there are some who are specifically/mainly responsible for the cause of killing each other, the rest is a victim or partially victim.

If we want to alleviate the problem and pull ourselves from such a degrading und dehumanizing position, then we should seek to understand the cause and remove the cause. Trying to generalize to all is not helping to solve the problem, rather an attempt of cover-up, prolonging the problem with that.
