You don't even originally call it military cooperation or assistance. It was not important and it will not be important. There is no way what so ever France assists Ethiopia, if Ethiopia wants to defend itself from Egypt, Sudan or even its tiny colony of Djibouti. So, when and were does Ethiopia needs France? No where, because is France is more into these other countries than with Ethiopia. Do not forget, France is drinking from the same Western glass.

First the story reads two “ unnamed official” sources volunteered the news. Let us say it is true. What does that mean? France is suspending military cooperation with Ethiopia to most probably force Abiy to change the tactic of the law and order mission in Tigray. Abiy might definitely say to himself “ military cooperation” will resume when TPLF is no longer the talking point. He is right.
Always diplomacy and cooperation are two way streets. There is no free lunch as we think there is in this world.

This is just a well known political gimmick to cater into the internal political opponents will. "Military cooperation" is simply a business issue and governed as such and has nothing to do with any kind of cooperation.
There have been many countries exporting their weapons to many different countries, where there have been controversial wars were/are going on.
America exports its weapons to Saudi Arabia, UK, Canada and others do the same, while they also superficially opposing their trade partner's engagement in the Yemen "civil war".
Germany has been opposing all along the war the turkish government is waging against its own citizens, the Kurds, but when it comes to trade, then the latter is dictated by the rule of trade, nothing else.
Woyanewoch, how is the administration of Lalibela going on so far? You could have shared with us that instead of this crap, not worthy of news.
The export stop does not apply
After Turkish troops marched into Syria in October 2019, the German government imposed a partial ban on arms exports against Turkey. However, it only applies to weapons that can be used in the Syrian war. According to the document, the weapons delivered last year were exclusively goods from the "maritime sector".
Arms exports to Turkey are not only controversial because of the entry of Turkish troops into Syria. The United Nations also counts Turkey among the countries that intervene in the war in Libya with arms deliveries. Last week there was a military operation in northern Iraq against the Kurdish Workers' Party PKK, which Turkey regards as a terrorist organization. On the other hand, Germany and Turkey, as NATO members, also belong to the same military alliance.

The story if true simply says suspended. The reason has nothing to with TPLF; it might have to do with Turkey's deeper involvement in Ethiopia. Turkey is the arch competitor against France in Africa both military and economic. If France chooses to give loan for Navy building, it would be because of France's interest. No free lunch. If France exits, another power will moves in. This is a polar global politics.
