If Ethiopians could be dual citizens, they’d have a greater likelihood of fleeing overseas if things got tough in Ethiopia itself. We've enough problems as is, no need to add more to the fire.

Sifan Hassan of the Netherlands, Kalkidan Gezahegne of Bahrain, both grew up and fled their country Ethiopia when it was being abused under TPLF.

That is true Sifan Hasan left in 2008 at the age of 14 or 15. She was mere junior runner. Kalkidan left 2013 at age 22 or 23. Both of them are managed the one only Tesema Abshiro, himself a marathon runner. My prediction is the beloved Derartu going to take over and fix the Ethiopian Track and Field. Genuine Ethiopians like Tesema Abshiro are going to grow many, many real Ethiopia loving runners. It is always the case that it gets worse before it gets better! We will bring the Ethiopian track back to its former glory!!!
