Since when did Somalis fail to recall the past atrocities and started having a defense pact with Amhara, particularly against another Ethiopian nation? Is there a constitutionally binding legal ground that forces us to forge a military alliance with Amhara against Tigray? Compared to other regions, the Somali region has the longest border that needs to be monitored constantly to defend against cross-border insecurity. We all know that the Ethiopian defense forces whose job was to secure the border are no more stationed Somali region. So who is supposed to replace EDFs to secure Somali region borders?These are some of the questions that Mustafe and his friends should answer before involving our forces in the Amhara – Tigray war.
In fact, all these circumstances negate sending Somali Special Police Forces to fight and die on behalf of their historic and strategic rival. Almost no Somaliis willing to see our forces being humiliated in a war that is not ours.
I, therefore, call upon the Somali regional administration to halt for now at least sending forces somewhere else and give priority to regional security. Securing borders and putting to end inter-communal clashes. Our brethren communities fighting for the last three years in the outskirts of Jigjiga need an ending solution. So you better commit yourselves to resolve such security issues where those whose lives matter most to us die on a daily basis.
I call for the Somali Special Police Forces not to accept from anyone that wants to use your blood for a prolonged political position.
Instead of fighting for land and community you don’t know or did not swear for, you better reserve your blood and lives for the right cause, the protection of your people.
I call for the Somali people to stay vigilant and not allow the current administration to send our heroes to places where they don’t deserve to pass their lives. Refute any demand that comes from any politician that wants to use these forces for own interest. Primary reports reaching us indicate that DP Mustafa and his colleagues are engaged in the selection process.
