Asmara is in a panic mode

The armed Tigrayan TDF move to Gonder and central Ethiopia, has put Asmara in a panic mode.
Just called Asmara and my cousin who had been working as a surveyor in the Colluli potash mine in the Danakil region which is only 15 km from the Ethiopian border told me, all the foreigners and us have left the potash mine. The Bisha mine and the Chinese in the Zara mine are still operating but the risk of reprisal rockets from the Tigrayans is a possibility. Management is in contact with the Eritrean ministry of mining and the security chief Abraha Kassa. If the Tigrayan's push continues, the potash mine being the main target, may be shut for long until a certain ceasefire is declared that includes Eritrea.
He said, I can't say much ... Asmara is in a panic mode ... thousands of people have already died ...

The Colluli resource comprises three potassium bearing salts in solid form: sylvinite, carnallitite and kainitite. These salts are suitable for high yield, low energy production of SOP, which is a high quality potash fertiliser carrying a price premium over the more common MOP. Potassium sulphate has limited production centres around the world and is suitable for application to fruits, vegetables, coffee plants and other chloride intolerant crops.

The salt composition in the Danakil region also provides the ability to produce a suite of potash products including SOP, Sulphate of Potash-Magnesia (SOP-M) and MOP. Such potash product diversification cannot be achieved by any other known potash region in the world.
