I am as opinionated as the next guy, but at the end of the day, I have to humble myself and accept the collective wisdom of the Ethiopian people. They have spoken loud and clear. Yes, there are irregularities and government cadres that have tried to manipulate and harass voters in different areas but on balance, the Ethiopian people never had this kind of opportunity to cast their vote freely. Had they really wanted they would have changed the composition of the party significantly, but they have decided to give prosperity the chance to correct its ways and transition the country to the future it deserves. It is also a chance for the prosperity party regardless of the region to act as a party that shoulders the aspiration of 120,0000000 Ethiopians.

Yes, I would have liked at least 25 % of the parliament seats to be won by the opposition parties. I really do, but , yes, we have to accept the result and move on. I am especially amazed about the result of Addis. This is a city that says no to the politics of TPLF overwhelmingly in 2005. That it gave to PP party an overwhelming support means Addis Abebeans believe the party has a potential to become a real national party. I hope they are right.

To be frank the opposition has not produced a more powerful reason for why they should be elected instead of PP. The so called opposition lacked wisdom and political maturity . All of those so called citizen parties had no reason not produce a single ticket there by asking the people to waste their votes on fragmented elite mini -ambitions.

Yes, this is being proven again and again - wisdom of the crowd is scientific, it follow the laws of probability and evolutionary advantage. There is power and safety in the crowd, the crowd has capacity to enable or disable rulers and leaders.

PP has a cadre base problem, it will remain to be a source of corruption and inefficiency but Abiy has proven to be pragmatic, goal- driven, result-driven and an effective communicator and charismatic leader.

In one word, the people elected Abiy Ahmed not PP. They voted PP to give Abiy Ahmed the tools and the social based (the cadres) to run the county to the best of existing state of affairs.

Ethiopians are highly politicized people and they did not vote for PP out of voter ignorance; they voted for stability and order - a truly wise and insightful mass behavior.

Come 2026, if the opposition does not come up with a new business model, ie, one or two huge national parties, PP will win again. The #1 demand of every political community is always order, followed by justice ....etc.

Ethiopians have now clearly told the political elites that 30, 40, 50 parties political model is a loser business model, Ditto.

I agree with all of you guys above. This win is clearly a win for PM Abiy and is not to be equated a win for PP. With all the weakness of PP, the people of Ethiopia wanted desperately to keep PM Abiy as their PM. He is seen as hard working and a visionary leader who excels by his deeds not only by his speech. It seems to me many Ethiopians didn't vote for the opposition for fear of losing Abiy as their PM. So they did the safest thing and voted for him. I spoke to few of my friends who said they would vote for Ezema before the election but ended up voting for PP. They said they wanted to make sure PM Abiy stays in power. They wanted to give him a chance.

In any case, this is clearly his win!

this was expected from the onset, I think. A fragmented opposition which doesen't really offer any meaningful alternative, coalescing itself around a single individual, who is the actual owner of the party, can't be expected to perform any better.

Founding a party doesn't mean to try to impose one's vision on the broader mass, no matter how good that view could be. You need to study the need of the electorate and base your program on that need. In the case of Ethiopia it is totally different. Some few people come togather and start crafting their own program and try to impose the same on the broader mass, this is one of the cause of the fragmentation of the opposition.

The incumbent has much better advantage over the opposition, it has been closer to the populace, understands their needs and tries to address them. Some figures of the opposition come to the same mass and make the same old orating (mostly about my way or the high-way, never compromise) and go home. But those people have got real needs, they expect you to address their needs, before you can expect from them to offer you their vote.

People have no special interest with PP or any other body, people have just interest and when you start to cater to their needs, then you are also welcome and hope for their vote.

በላይኛው አስተያየቴ ላይ የረሳሁት በጣም ሕዝቡን የገፋ ፋክተር አለ ። ይህም በአቢይ አህመድ ላይ ከየአቅጣጫው የተወረወረበት ጥቃትና ወከባ እናም የእሱ ጸንቶ መቆም ነው። አሜሪካ፣ አውሮፓ፣ ግብጽ፣ የትግሬ ባንዳዎች፣ የኦሮሞ ተገንጣዮች፣ በአቅሟ፣ ሱዳን ፣ ሚጢጢ ፊንላንድ አየርላንድ ሁሉም ከግራና ቀኝ ሲያዋክቡት አቢይ መንገድ ይሰራል፣ ፓርክ ይሰራል ፣ እርሻ ያሳርሳል፣ ባንድ ቃል ሕዝቡ ጠላቶችን ለማሳፈርና የመሪያቸው ደጀን እነ ሆኑ ያሳዩበት አቬንት ነበር። የኢትዮጵያ ሕዝብ ትሩ መሪ የወዳል፣ በመሪ ዙሪያ መሰብሰብ የሚወድ ህዝብ ነው። ልክ እንደ ጀርመኖች ስርዓት የሚወድ ህዝብ ነው። ኢትዮጵያን የባለ ብዙ ዘመን የምንግስት ታሪክ አገር ስንል ይሀው ነው ። ይህ ነው ብሄራዊ ካራክተራችን! This is the Ethiopian character!
