Here is how I address your question:
Where was Emperor Tewodros (1855 -1868) the King of Ethiopia who ruled Humera, Welqait , Raya and Lasta? The precise answer to this question is: The son of Kimant, Emperor Tewodros is dead, being killed by the Wallo dynasty Oromo queen Mestawet.
My question is was there any tribe named Tigre in the theological and historical documents of Ethiopia? This is good question but that is why we Oromos always expose that Amhara debteras and clergies are unaware of writing history. I mean, you can’t find the real history of the horn the way you may have been deceived by reading their lore in the metet book. In this case, I am dealing with presumption that lead you to this question.

The first edition of Rev. Michael Russell's book, I believe, was published in 1800, the second edition in 1833, and the most recent edition was published in 2019. So the author is generally describing the territorial situations of the time period around 1800. That was during the Zemene Mesafint, in which stronger warlords were the king-makers and practical rulers of Abyssinia. Two of the powerful practical rulers of the "empire" were rulers of Tigray or Tigre' ---i.e. Ras Michael Suhul(1768-1784) and Ras Walde Sellasie (1790-1816). These two did whatever they wanted to.
You displayed page 79 of the book as a basis of your conclusion that ወልቃይት የትግራይ መሆኑዋን [Welqayit was Tigray's]. Did you ever ask yourself why the number 1 name of territory on the list under Tigre' was Tigre' Proper and what that means? That is the first critical question to answer. Tigre' Proper means the original territorial jurisdiction of political Tigre' that was also recognized as such by the sovereign and their neighboring communities. That means that the other named territories were either assigned by the sovereign to be temporarily administered by or were militarily conquered by the contemporary Tigre' ruler. In short, those territories, other than Tigre' Proper, were not originally Tigray's but rather possessed by Tigre' through military conquest.
The second relevant information you did not consider is stated on the second paragraph of page 74 of the book. That information is very specific and important because it defines the regular historical boundary between Tigre' Proper and AmHara Proper. Read it again. It says that,https://archive.org/details/nubiaabyssi ... 4/mode/1upThe high range of the Samen hills, stretching from Waldubba to the south of Lasta, to-gether with the line of the Tacazze, which flows in a north-easterly course along its base, sufficiently point out the natural boundary between Tigre and Amhara.

Better to argue with people like you, the one a bit out of the Amhara course of insult for lack of idea.
I never gave hasty conclusion. There is little, if any, from this I may gain as nation. My purpose is to find fact. Now back to the basics.
Rule of the game:
- Extrapolation is prohibited
- Do not expect me to rephrase your introduced concept. scientific approach encourages writing with plain text.
According to these rules, I am at your last paragraph, where you quoted from the book.
Is there any claim in my post against that statement? Or is there any boundary dispute between Amhara and Tigraway as related to that statement? What is your problem in that regard?
