A Fourth of July Observation: Judge Not Lest Ye Be Judged?

I have come a long way in my spiritual journey; there was a time—before homelessness taught me to stop viewing the world through the lens of tribalism—where I judged “white” people and Republicans alike and blamed them for all the evils of this world. I now realize that collective judgement of that sort is immoral and is the exact mindset that leads to injustice and mass-atrocities being committed against people based on their identity or beliefs.

I no longer blame all for the sins of a few, which is the reason why I push back against terms like “white privilege” and speak up for inclusive justice instead of seeking redress for only people who share my complexion or my views. However, I have not stopped judging; it’s just that my condemnations have gone from shotguns that scatter pellets of denunciations at large groups of people to snipers that fire bullets of censure at those who are actually making and dictating economic and social policies that hobble billions of people around the world....continued...
