I understand the West hate the presence of Eritrean troops in Tigray. However, the Eritrean government doesn't care what they think of their presence for many reasons.
1st. When TPLF was firing missiles after missiles on 4 different Eritrean cities, for the sake of the Ethiopian territorial integrity and not to damage the relation between the two nations, the Eritrean government decided to take multiple hits without retaliations. The Eritrean Ambassador at UN also called upon the West to stop their slave dog, the Weyane from firing missiles and to stop attempting to pull in the Eritreans to the war; the West's response was mute...because, they still thought their slave dog would come out on top (wishful thinking).
2. When the UN demarcated the border and awarded all the disputed lands to Eritrea, their slave dog continued to occupied Eritrean territories while the West never put any pressure or even didn't ask the Weyane to respect the international law.
Because of the above two reasons, the Eritrean government doesn't care what the West say or do today. Eritrea told the West, you can't have two sets of rules/demand and where were you for 20 plus years when Eritrean territories were occupied illegaly by your slave. Why didn't utter one single word to warn their slave dog to stop firing at Eritrea as well as to withdraw from internationally recognized land then?
The Eritrean government respects the Ethiopian government's demand, not the West. They are still in Tigray because of the Ethiopian governments will. I believe the Ethiopian government is actually not pressured the Eritrean troops to withdraw; the Abiy government also have a FULL right who to invite to its territory or not, not the West. After all, Ethiopia is a proud independent country, not the West pawn like Djibouti. Thanks to the slave Weyane, it made Ethiopia completely dependent on the West's help, thus has no option but to listen to the West and meet their demand; on the other hand, the West has zero leverage on Eritrea or has power to pressure it.
Eritrea only withdraws from Tigray once the threat is completely stop no matter what the West say or do. You know the West involves in war 10,000 miles away from their borders although the enemy is not even a threat to their territory, such as Taliban in Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and South Korea and so forth. Just because they give you some donation, why sell your pride? You have a right to be in a good term with the West by meeting their ridicules' demands but at what cost? The west also demanded the "Amara Liyu Haile" to withdraw from their own land, the Welqait, Humera, Raya and so forth. They don't recognize that as the Amara land and they are insisting on the withdrawal to pre-war area. Therefore, because you don't want to damage your relation with the West as you said, would you also meet this demand and give your own territory to your enemy?
Dr. Abiy has the entire World behind him, including the majority of the West. The only Western countries who are screaming are the US and UK, no other Western country is pressuring the Ethiopian government. What we say is, stand your ground, or else you will lose your dignity forever. Moreover, once the Weyane agents in the West ran out of money to pay to the people like Susan Rice, their pressure also will dissipated. After all, they will undertand that Weyane is DEAD and ain't coming back.

I hope it is just for show.
I know every Agame in the world is praying for the Eritrean soldiers withdrawal because, they know what Shaebia did to their beloved dead Weyane.
They think if Sheabia withdraws, the remaining terrorists would have a chance to survive and cause havoc on their own Kilil.
I understand what you are saying but sooner or later the Ethiopian government must start securing Tigray region and the border with Eritrea. The status quo can't continue forever. I really don't think TPLF will come back strong for the foreseeable future. The Ethiopian government must also find a balance between its relations with Eritrea and the west. The US hates the presence of Eritrean forces to death and fear Eritrean influence in Ethiopia. You can see how the western media always single out specifically Eritrean troops and make them very bad. This is because they hate their presence and think Eritrea is a threat to their interest in the HoA and fear Ethiopia could follow the Eritrean path.
We can't afford to lose our relations with the west. That would be suicidal not only for the government but also for the country as a whole. So as TPLF is no more a major threat, I think the Ethiopian government must start securing Tigray and the border with Eritrea. The moment that happens the west will reduce its pressure on Ethiopia significantly because that is their number 1 demand. The government should always work to have good relations with both our neighbors and the west as both are crucial for our future.
As the west sees the presence of Eritrean troops as a major threat to their interest in the HoA, I don't think this is just for show and even if this time it is a show sooner or later the Eritrean troops will withdraw so that Ethiopia can have its relations with the west get restored. There is no other option on this one. The west is very serious on this issue.
