It is an eye-opener for me to see the Senator who I thought was the most pro-weyane senator to call the TPLF by its real name a Terrorist and to give full support directly to Abiy on the senate floor was amazing.

Yes, it is truly eye-opener. What about the prayer session with yet to be PM Abiy! Now the Ethio-America issue is taking shape. This will take the matter out of Susan's hands and becomes a legislation debate and US party politics. In my view, this a major breakthrough considering Biden's statement and Feltman return to Addis.

I hope the Ethiopian government or Ethiopian embassy or someone like Al approach Fox news and lets them examine independently Susan's relationship with TPLF, and how they are using America for Libya kind of blunder in Ethiopia and Eritrea. Abiy needs to pay whatever necessary to expose these Weyane haired guns.

That is why I call them spoiled Ivy League preppy groupies ! Children of wealth and money who think they can do anything and anywhere. That is what Sen. Inhofe called 'people who don't know Ethiopia'!

Yes they are spoiled Ivy League preppy groupies , but at the same time they can manipulate the system to wield disproportionate power to do evil in the world. The same individuals were the main actors in Yugoslavia, Syria , Libya, Rwanda . The only way to expose these mercenaries one has to use the American system it self. That requires lobbing , paying for law firm who have access to Washington power centers. They can be expensive but they are effective.
Hear Susan say 140000 killed is not a genocide .

Statement by President Joe Biden on the Crisis in Ethiopia

MAY 26, 2021 • STATEMENTS AND RELEASES

I am deeply concerned by the escalating violence and the hardening of regional and ethnic divisions in multiple parts of Ethiopia. The large-scale human rights abuses taking place in Tigray, including widespread sexual violence, are unacceptable and must end. Families of every background and ethnic heritage deserve to live in peace and security in their country. Political wounds cannot be healed through force of arms. Belligerents in the Tigray region should declare and adhere to a ceasefire, and Eritrean and Amhara forces should withdraw. Earlier this week, the UN Office of Humanitarian Affairs warned that Ethiopia could experience its first famine since the 1980s because of this protracted conflict. All parties, in particular the Ethiopian and Eritrean forces, must allow immediate, unimpeded humanitarian access to the region in order to prevent widespread famine.

The United States urges Ethiopia’s leaders and institutions to promote reconciliation, human rights, and respect for pluralism. Doing so will preserve the unity and territorial integrity of the state, and ensure the protection of the Ethiopian people and the delivery of urgently needed assistance. The Government of Ethiopia and other stakeholders across the political spectrum should commit to an inclusive dialogue. Working together, the people of Ethiopia can build a shared vision for the country’s political future and lay the foundation for sustainable and equitable economic growth and prosperity.

The United States is committed to helping Ethiopia address these challenges, building on the longstanding ties between our two nations and working with the African Union, United Nations, and other international partners. U.S. Special Envoy for the Horn of Africa Jeff Feltman is leading a renewed U.S. diplomatic effort to help peacefully resolve the interlinked conflicts across the region, including a resolution of the dispute over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam that meets the needs of all parties. Special Envoy Feltman will return to the region next week and keep me apprised of his progress. America’s diplomacy will reflect our values: defending freedom, upholding universal rights, respecting the rule of law, and treating every person with dignity.

No, I wasn't under estimating their resources and capacities; I was simply stating their decision making and thinking horizon. As for Ethiopian state of diplomacy and readiness, it all goes back to Abiy's lost three years. A problem that persisted since he came to power and still goes on is his unwillingness and failure to seek and hire people based on their merit, expertise and Ethiopian patriotism. The same Susan type groupiness also Abiy's habit doing things. All those critically national departments should have been filled up with seasoned experts not PP party cadre rationing and quotas. As Abebe Gelaw said most of these diplomats don't even have a good mastery of the English language let alone multiliguality. Very few in fact had any serious education in the science art of world politics, diplomacy and war. We are a 3,000 unfinished process!
