Do they need to send a special force to rescue Debreporn? Are they rescuing an american diplomat from the jaws of a terrorist org? Lol
If America had the will to rescue Debreporn a short call from Biden to Colonel Abiy would suffice.
American interference is all about controling colonel Abiy.

I disagree , Horus. Asmara has a valid point. Abiy has turned out to be a proud , nationalist Ethiopian leader who does not like to take order from anyone except the Ethiopian people. The American government seems to not like that. Too bad. We Ethiopians say more power to Abiy for being a true Ethiopian leader. We missed that for a long time.

Many times, I had said that was in rare historical moment to become one of colorful leaders of if he was willing to lead like Menelik II. Is he evolving into an Ethiopian nationalist or was he one to begin with, we will never know. Now, he finds himself in a situation where he has no other way of securing his power except the way of Ethiopianism. So long as Abiy travels the Ethiopian agenda, he will enjoy the support of the great majority.
This is also why I said that Western animosity toward Ethiopia is a blessing in disguise. It is unifying our fragmented politics and fractured political community.
America seems to dislike the whole notion of Ethiopian development in African power. US/EU are openly working to grow Kenya into an East African power (rather than Ethiopia). In other words the West is working to divide and fragment Africa so that it will not grow into the 5th global power after - China, USA, Russia, and India.
This is precisely why 'Pan-Africanism' being mentioned these days. The Abiye Ahmed pan Africanist strategy is what USA and colonial Europe hate just as they did during the organization of OAU.
All Abiy has to do is be persistent, firm, and passionately Ethiopian in his perspectives and visions. Today's Ethiopia is not the Ethiopia of Haile Selasie and Mengistu. We are much larger and more resourceful to weather American economic pressure.
That is I posted about a possible ultimate American attempt, that is rescue lifting of TPLF criminals. Or, call rhetorical !

Horus the Americans don't realise that they are playing with fire. Ethiopia is a continental heavyweight and looking to disintegrate her would set a dangerous precedent for many other African countries to break apart along ethnic lines
