Ethiopia's independence and the defeat colonizers such as Gragne Ahmed, Egypt, Turkey, and Italy were foiled by the Ethiopians but the Tigrayans as hard core and in some cases by the Tigrayans alone ( such as the war with Egypt). Practically speaking it is the Tigrayan spirit that assured the independence of Ethiopia which also inspired all colonized people to struggle for independence. The developmental state model that brought Ethiopia to the forefront in economic growth and inspired so many African countries and the courage's decision to build the dam on the Abay river (GERD ) were the result of Tigrayan fighting spirit. Unfortunately Isaias, a Tigrayan by himself, and Abiy ungratefully and and a clue less lier) have conspired to destroy the Tigrayan spirit but with out success.Both failed to understand that the more pressure you put on Tigrayans the more they unite and become more stronger, resilent and unconquerable.
