The Long March was a one year epic 6,000 mile trek by the Chinese communists under the leadership of Mao. The plan was to move from less defensible positions to a secure location from which the revolutionaries could fight and win.
The Agames executed their own version of Long March. It was a 17 day marathon from all of their territories to Mekele and then to the caves in Temben. For the last 6 months, the dwindling remnants have been moving from one cave to another. In the meantime, they have lost over 70% of their leadership. Their rag-tag army has been decimated mercilessly. Of the 9 executive committee members of the TPLF only Getachew Reda is walking. Poor Debretsion is dead. Whether he has lost his head is still not known. But there is no doubt that he is dead.
