Nigeria has 250 ethnic groups and yet no conflicts leading to genocide! Why is there genocide in Ethiopia with 80 tribes

It is mind boggling why Ethiopia is committing genocide against one of it's founders - Tigray people and region. We need to find out the reason for such inhuman actions taken by the government in Addis Ababa and Eritrea.
As to Nigeria it had only one major conflict in end of 1960's - The Biafra War. Ethiopia had many armed conflicts based on ethnic groups. There have been also country-wide political organisation who took up arms. But the major political forces have been based on Ethnic groups. why? why not in Nigeria or Uganda or Kenya?????

Nigeria has over 250 ethnic groups, the most populous and politically influential being Hausa-Fulani 29%, Yoruba 21%, Igbo (Ibo) 18%, Ijaw 10%, Kanuri 4%, Ibibio 3.5%, Tiv 2.5%. It also has over 500 languages, with English being the official language.
