EU sanction on Eritrea makes sense

EU brought unnecessary pressure on itself based on hearsay news and reports. To shut up the public opinion, they had to do something. If they do the same thing on Ethiopia, the shágging would have been intensified. Therefore, they have to make a sanction on Eritrea which is a joke of the century. The good news is, because the sanction has nothing to do with Tigray, it exposes the validity of the alleged crimes and it tacitly acknowledges that the alleged atrocities supposed to have been committed by Eritrea in Tigray could not be substantiated. But they just want to use it as a means to relief their pressure. This is what the EU has said:

EU said the following:

The European Union imposed sanctions on Eritrea’s National Security Agency, citing alleged human-rights violations.
The National Security Office is responsible for serious human-rights violations in Eritrea, in particular arbitrary arrests, extra-judicial killings, enforced disappearances of persons and torture committed by its agents,” the EU said Monday in its official journal.
The sanctions imposed on the agency, which is led by Major-General Abraha Kassa, include a travel ban and the freezing of funds belonging to the entity and its head.
Therefore practically:
1. Abraha Kassa who probably travel once every 15 years to EU is banned from entering Europe.
2. The Eritrean intelligence Agency has no asset in Europe, but it is frozen by the sanction

Cartman's Verdict: joke sanction which poetically fits the bogus genocide in Tigray.

As retaliation, we should freeze the assets of the Intelligence of Seychelles, and ban its head from entering Eritrea. It makes perfect sense.

Any time, but just don't forget that they are immune to anything that has to do with human dignity.

I agree. I was surprised to see no word like "Ethiopia" or "Tigray" in the EU statement. Instead it says "in Eritrea" and the sanction is not against Eritrea or the Eritrean state but few individuals. I don't know why people say this is a sanction against Eritrea though. It looks like the EU is just doing this useless practice to calm the media and nothing else. The EU also didn't give a reason why it is imposing sanctions on Eritrean individuals for things that supposedly happened in Eritrea. What was the reason? In any case Ethiopians must reject and expose this kind of unfair practice just to calm the fake news media. If the EU has evidence, it should bring it to the front and not do such stupid nonesense.

EU imposes sanctions on Eritrea
by News Desk

 March 22, 2021

The EU has imposed sanctions on Eritrea for violating human rights. The aim of the sanctions is the Office for National Security, which is under the supervision of the President’s office, as it was called on Monday. The office “is responsible for serious human rights violations in Eritrea committed by its employees, in particular arbitrary arrests, extrajudicial killings, disappearances and torture.”

The foreign ministry of the country in the Horn of Africa called the sanctions a “malicious act”. The EU has no legal or moral prerogative for this decision, it said.

Eritrea, with around three million inhabitants, has been ruled by the autocratic President Isaias Afewerki for years. The tough national labor and military service has already displaced tens of thousands of people, many of them to Germany. The state is largely isolated from the international community. Eritrean soldiers are currently fighting in the conflict in Tigray in neighboring Ethiopia, which the government in Addis Ababa denies.

The punitive measures were imposed with a sanctions instrument that was only created last year to punish serious human rights violations. With the new sanctions regime, the EU expanded its options at the end of 2020 to punish those responsible for serious injustices abroad. At the same time, sanctions were imposed on Monday for human rights violations in China, North Korea, Libya, Russia and South Sudan
