Some of the reasons are:
- because the Channels offered them more money and
- the channel has around 500k subscribers (compare this with Eritrean population)
- they will get more views
- they will get more funs etc etc

Also the above singer - Issey Afeworki is Abraham Afeworki's brother. I just remembered Abraham Afeworki's first CD was produced and distributed under the Virgin Records label - owned by Richard Branson (who also owns Virgin Atlantic Airways and Virgin Media). The point is: rising and big stars strive to do business with big labels / channels and it has nothing to do with their citizenship or heritage.
