Genocide is a grand allegation, so its proof also needs irrefutable evidence

Post by DefendTheTruth » 12 Mar 2021, 08:40

I hear people claiming about a capital crime of "Genocide" and "Ethnic Cleansing" being committed in Ethiopia, not by those who are on the ground but by those who are far away from the scene.

If the Ethiopian government, both at the regional and federal level, cares about its people, then it should be its primary responsibility to investigate and then prosecute the perpetrators of such a capital crime, including those who are from its side, provided it's proven that its own actors were involved in such a crime.

Only if the Ethiopian government itself failed or unable to carry out this responsibility, then an involvement of a third party from outside of the soverign country should be taken into consideration, which is the last option in this case to hold those responsible accountable. This should be in the interest of the people of Ethiopia and its government, because justice needs to be served.

The Ethiopian government's duty is now to demand from the proponents, first and foremost, "please show us the evidence" and based on that we will plan our next step in serving justice. The first step must be done first!

So far we have only heard about "credible evidences" from those who are quick to incriminate others of such a capital crime. This can't be taken seriously becuase such descriptions are vague, described in unclear terms.

We have already experienced about what it could mean or lead to when such phrases are used to justify the interferences of third party actors into the internal affairs of soverign nations around the world, the most vivid one being the case of Iraq, where the allegation that Sadam Hussein possessed WMD according to the same "credible evidence/sources", which but then proved itself a false allegation latter on, after the damage was already done.

So Ethiopian government side and all other actors, like the currently on going protests around the world, should just demand "show your evidence" (irrefutable evidence), that should be the starting point, I think.

Instead of going out and use some undiplomatic charaterisation, like "Shame on You" that I heard people were using infront of NYT-Headquarter in NY city, demonstrators primary demand should be "Where is your evidence?". I think this will appeal to more people on the streets and power-corridors than the silly use of insulting others in general. NYT could have many good people, who are going after their businesses honestly and responsibly as there are irresponsible and dishonest people and throwing all in the same bucket should be avoided, I think.

The Ethiopian government also demand "show us the evidence, before incriminating us!" as the starting point, in my view.

I think the demonstrators should prepare and hold as many banners as possible with "where is your evidence" instead of "Shame on you" if they prefer to garner more sympathy for their side from the silent majority.
