Bipartisan group of senators introduces bill to rein in Biden's war powers

A bipartisan group of senators introduced a bill on Wednesday to repeal two military authorizations, effectively curbing President Biden's war powers.

The bill, spearheaded by Sens. Tim Kaine (D-Va.) and Todd Young (R-Ind.), would repeal the 1991 and 2002 authorizations for the use of military force (AUMF), which both deal with Iraq.

The bill comes as lawmakers have voiced frustration about a lack of consultation with Congress over the United States' strikes last week in Syria, marking the first known military action ordered by Biden. The administration didn't cite either authorization for those actions.
Last week's airstrikes in Syria show that the Executive Branch, regardless of party, will continue to stretch its war powers,
Kaine said in a statement.
I call on Congress to promptly take up this measure and for the Biden Administration to support it to finally show the American people that the Article I and II branches can work together on these issues,
he added.

Young added that Congress has been
operating on autopilot
when it comes to authorizing military force.
Congress must not shy away from this debate and I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to advance this important legislation,
he added.

In addition to Kaine and Young, Sens. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.), Mike Lee (R-Utah), Chris Coons (D-Del.), Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Díck Durbin (D-Ill.) and Rand Paul (R-Ky.) are backing the bill.

Senators have tried for years to reform or repeal the existing military authorizations, but the legislation has gotten bogged down by partisan divisions on Capitol Hill or jockeying between the executive and legislative branches.

Kaine said he informed the White House during a call this week about his bill. He noted while they didn't make any commitments, they seemed
really willing to engage.

Well, Zmeselo, he will finish his first term. A week or two ago he ordered a military strike against rebels who supposedly have affiliation with Iran. Democrats hate in principle America acting as the world police. Usually, Republicans are not against intervention. The Trump election has changed that calculus.
Anyhow the TPLF cadres who have no any clue about the world they live in should take notice.
A week or so ago they were writing in ER that they American navy was in the move to erase Eritrea out of the map of the world.
No political party on earth has produced clueless cadres as TPLF does. They are “ mafaria.”

They are shamelessly evil and stupid! That is for sure.

There is no people in the world who fight against their own interest as these filthy agames.
They know that they can not last a month even Ethiopia tells them to get the hell out of the union. And there is a country in the north where their grandparents were begging to get fed and raise these snotty nowadays agames where even now they can benefit from Eritrea on the basis that both countries have peace with each other and are trying to work hard to make their respective citizens lives better than ever.
But as evil as they are, their problem is not about them getting the benefit of the peace, but the envy gets them better and are hell bent to not see Eritrea become what it would be in the future. Pure evil and envy.
I am telling you these hasadat filthy agames would be willing to let some one cut both their legs, both their arms and even blind one of their eyes (I mean the whole tegaru population) if that some one promises them that they will cut only one arm of the Eritreans.
Man, sorry but I wish them nothing but more miseries in the future, unless they come out clean and apologize to their unfounded allegations to both countries and people and decide to live in peace cut to their minority size as Ethiopians.
It is just freaking bizarre that they massacre their own country's troops while asleep, unrecognize their own govt and worse cheer for Ethiopia's enemies to destroy the dam, steal lands and the destabilization of their own country.
Woyane is dead and it won't come out. Now why the hell are the supposedly innocent agames not filling the stadium and their ugly streets to show the world that they are Ethiopians, denounce woyane, support PMAA govt just like they did before the first shot to start this crap.
I mean we saw them parading with their ugly flags and daring both countries to start the sh*it.
And stupidly, they shot the first bullet as if they can stand the heat, now that they understand they messed up with a real deal, they are wallowing in streets, dreaming the UN or USA to come to their aid, begging the ghost Eritreans to vacate from tigray.....I don't know how one communicates with ghosts.
When are they going to deal with the facts? There is no way in hell the USA or the UN can come to their rescue even if the Russians, Chinese abstained and throw Ethiopia under the bus. No way in hell. Talking about tigray is talking about any remote region of combodia, the Congo, fijji etc. No one gives a damn.
But in the eyes of these weird agames tigray got mentioned at the UN, a white man is talking about tigray, sleeping in the streets while their families are starving to death due to woyane's miscalculation is seen like victory.
Wired a*ss holes, really dumb people, for real.
