Let’s do a quick math exercise; no need to fetch a calculator nor don a green hat–this one is pretty straight forward. The Senate is split 50/50 with ties being broken in the favor of Democrats. In the House of Representatives, the arithmetic favor the Democrats by a sliver as they hold a 221-211 majority. Now let’s just imagine that the Democrats operate in good faith after each election cycle and that they would actually push through a measure to pay reparations to the descendants of political prisoners–I don’t refer to America’s second holocaust victims as slaves–if only the party of Jefferson and Jackson had the votes.

Excuse me as I shatter the illusion and shake you awake from the dream you were having about Democrats being a party to justice. Even if they had a veto-proof and a super-majority in both houses of Congress, Democrats would never enact a law that would pay African-Americans the monies they are due after enriching this country with their blood and sweat. To the contrary, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and their ilk are intent on using the pains of “black” folk to advance their political agenda without lifting a finger to compensate their most loyal voting bloc...continued...
