The world is moving away from fossil fuel and growing solar and wind energy. The age of petroleum is coming to an end.
Second, the world is moving into electric power storage (battery technology).
Third, very soon majority of the world population will drive electric cars, not petroleum cars. In fact, it is possible water driven cars will follow.
In short, water is the petroleum, the gold, and wealth of nations of the world.
Three critical reasons: a gallon of drinking water will become more expensive than a gallon of gas; water based electric power will be stored in batteries and used to drive the cars of the world; and finally only those water (rain rich) nations known as Green Nations will be truly ecologically sustainable into the distant future.
Ethiopia is endowed with all three. PM Abiye mentions this huge strategic issue in passing at his cabinet retreat. Ethiopia needs to create a fully funded and staffed ministry to lead Ethiopia's hydropolitics and hydroeconomics.
This is the Age of Water and Ethiopia is the largest water deposit of the world!
I propose that we should name it 'The Green Nation Project'. It is most important Ethiopian Agenda of all!
